6.25.26 JUNE ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 423:
Description
This lot consists of three antique fire hose nozzles with straight-tip designs, dating from the early 20th century, circa 1900-1930s. The nozzles are manufactured from cast brass or bronze and feature a traditional tapered, conical form. Each piece has a slightly flared discharge tip and a wider, flared base with internal threading for hose attachment. The central nozzle is the longest of the trio and is embossed around the base with the manufacturer name REPUBLIC RUBBER CO. and its location YOUNGSTOWN O. The other two nozzles exhibit a similar construction but do not have clearly legible maker marks. These pieces represent the nozzle tips only and do not include shut-off valves or handles.
Condition report:
All three items are in antique, as-found condition showing signs of historical use and age. The central nozzle features a dark brown oxidation with surface dings, scratches, and minor pitting. The two outer nozzles are heavily patinated with a textured green verdigris covering most of the metal surfaces. The threaded interiors of the bases appear intact but show wear and oxidation consistent with age.
