Description
This color lithograph on archival paper, titled Masters of the High Country, is a reproduction of an original painting by American wildlife artist Leon Parson. The scene depicts a group of five bighorn rams resting and standing on a rocky mountainside, overlooking a turquoise alpine lake set against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks. The print is hand-signed by the artist in pencil in the lower right margin and additionally features a plate signature within the artwork on a rock in the lower right foreground. It is hand-numbered 294/1950 in the lower left margin. A Certificate of Authenticity from Petersen Sporting Prints, dated January 29, 1985, is affixed to the reverse, which identifies the printer as Core Graphics. The certificate notes an intended edition of 1000, though the print itself is numbered out of 1950. The work is housed in a decorative wooden frame with a double mat.
Condition report:
The print appears to be in good overall condition with no visible signs of foxing, fading, or toning to the paper. The wooden frame is in good condition with minor surface wear consistent with age. The Certificate of Authenticity on the reverse is intact but shows some light age-related discoloration. The backing paper and hanging wire are present and functional.
