Description
This limited edition offset lithograph, titled Great American Elk, is by the American wildlife artist Ralph J. McDonald. The composition depicts a mature bull elk in a bugling stance amidst tall, sunlit golden grasses. The background features a dark, dense coniferous forest, and a weathered tree stump occupies the foreground. The print is hand-signed in pencil by the artist R J McDonald in the lower right margin, situated below a corresponding signature in the image plate. It is hand-numbered in pencil 600/1500 in the lower left margin. A printed title tab reading GREAT AMERICAN ELK BY R.J. McDONALD is located at the center of the bottom border. The artwork is professionally housed in a dark wood frame with a gilded inner edge and double matting in dark green and tan. The reverse is finished with a paper dust cover, wire hanger, and a label for Stover’s Guns & Art.
Condition report:
The print is in good condition with no visible signs of foxing, moisture damage, or significant fading. The frame and matting appear well-maintained with only minor surface wear to the frame edges. The item has not been examined out of the frame.
