Description

This work is a limited edition offset lithograph titled The Morning Watch by American wildlife artist Larry Barton. The composition features a male wood duck with colorful plumage perched on a gnarled tree trunk above a nesting hole, where a female wood duck is visible within the cavity. The scene is rendered with fine detail against a dark, atmospheric woodland background. The print is hand-signed in pencil by the artist Larry Barton in the lower right margin and hand-numbered 753/800 in pencil in the lower left margin. A plate signature and date LARRY BARTON 1980 are visible within the lower left of the image. Affixed to the reverse is a Certificate of Authenticity from Petersen Sporting Prints of Los Angeles, stating the work was reproduced on March 10, 1982, and printed by Gore Graphics using a lithography process on archival paper. The document confirms a total edition of 850 prints, including 800 numbered copies and 50 artist proofs. Also attached to the reverse is an informational sheet providing a biography of the artist and a description of the subject matter. The print is housed in a stained wood frame and is double-matted with cream and red mats under glass.

Condition report:

The print appears to be in good overall condition with light, even toning to the paper consistent with age. The wooden frame exhibits minor surface scuffs and wear along the edges. The brown paper backing on the reverse is torn and tattered in several locations, and the attached documentation shows light creasing and minor lifting at the edges.
