5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 98:
Description
This collection contains five pairs of vintage salt and pepper shakers crafted from lithographed tin and glazed ceramic. The first pair consists of large cylindrical tin shakers with attached handles and perforated screw-top lids in blue with white polka dots. The bodies feature a lithographed wrap-around scene of long-haired kittens and various dog breeds. The second pair is composed of seated ceramic kittens with grey and white underglaze painting and pink nose accents. The third pair is a set of lithographed tin advertising shakers modeled after Eveready batteries, featuring the blue Eveready banner and the Nine Lives cat logo above the labels Salt and Pepper. The fourth set includes two stylized ceramic cats, one white with long painted eyelashes and green eyes and one black, seated within a woven blue and yellow composite basket, in the style of mid-century Tilso imports. The final pair consists of two elongated, reclining black cat figurines with high-gloss glaze, green eyes, and red ear highlights.
Condition report:
The items are in good vintage condition showing wear consistent with age and domestic use. The lithographed tin pieces show minor surface scuffs and small areas of oxidation to the metal rims. One tin shaker has residual adhesive from a price tag. Ceramic figurines appear free of significant chips, cracks, or repairs, though light glaze wear is present.
