Description
This is a mid-century poultry feeder manufactured by the Makomb Steel Products Co. of Macomb, Illinois. The unit is constructed from galvanized steel and features a tall cylindrical hopper mounted over a circular feeding tray. The hopper is equipped with a wire bale handle at the top and is secured to the base tray with metal connecting rods. Small circular openings at the bottom of the cylinder allow for the gravity-fed distribution of grain or feed. The front of the hopper displays a red stenciled logo with the brand name MAKOMB in an arc above a stylized chicken head graphic.
Condition report:
The feeder is in well-used vintage condition. Significant surface rust and oxidation are present on the wire handle, the interior and exterior of the base tray, and the lower section of the hopper. The red stenciled logo shows fading and some paint loss but remains legible. There are minor dings and general signs of wear consistent with agricultural use and age.
