Description

This vintage construction toy is a Gilbert Erector “The Rocket Launcher Set,” identified by model number 10053 on the exterior lid. The set is contained within its original lithographed metal carrying case. The exterior of the lid features a graphic of a boy assembling a rocket launcher alongside the Gilbert logo and set name. The interior of the case lid is finished in yellow with “Young Engineers” and “Over 325 Parts” printed in blue circles. The set contains an assortment of all-steel components, including silver-toned perforated girders and strips, yellow base plates, four wheels with red-painted centers, and various brass-toned gears and pulleys. Also included is a blue-cased electric motor with its original power cord and a paper instruction manual featuring project illustrations. The parts are organized in a white molded styrofoam base.

Condition report:

The metal case shows light surface wear, including minor scratches, scuffs, and small points of paint loss, primarily along the edges and base. The interior lithography remains bright. The styrofoam insert shows typical age-related yellowing and some minor compression or chipping to the dividers. The steel components appear to be in good condition with minimal surface oxidation. The instruction manual exhibits light handling wear and minor creasing. The electric motor and power cord are present but have not been tested for mechanical or electrical functionality.
