Description
An Imperial Glass Company pressed slag glass ashtray, manufactured in Bellaire, Ohio. The piece is constructed from variegated slag glass, commonly referred to as marble glass, displaying swirling patterns of midnight blue, amethyst purple, and opaque white. The molded design features a square form with ornate shell and scroll motifs at the corners and mid-points, complemented by a beaded inner rim. The underside of the dish retains its original blue foil manufacturer’s label, which features a stylized cursive letter I, a goblet symbol, and the text Imperial USA HAND CRAFTED. This item is a representative example of American decorative glassware produced during the mid-to-late 20th century.
Condition report:
The item is in good vintage condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or structural repairs. The interior of the bowl shows light surface residue and minor debris consistent with age and previous use as an ashtray.
