5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 317:
Description
This three-piece set of ruby red pressed glassware is in the 1876 Cape Cod pattern, a design produced for the Avon collection beginning in the 1970s. The set consists of two plates and one lidded pedestal candy dish. The plates feature a scalloped rim and a wide decorative border composed of scrolled cartouches with diamond-textured interiors, surrounding a central sunburst motif. The lidded candy dish, or compote, is decorated with a raised quilted diamond pattern on both the bowl and the matching lid. The lid is finished with a faceted knob finial, and the vessel is supported by a hexagonal pedestal base. The glassware displays a uniform, deep ruby red color characteristic of mid-to-late 20th-century American pressed glass. No manufacturer’s marks are visible in the images.
