5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 316:
Description
This item is a purple slag glass lidded urn or compote manufactured by the Imperial Glass Company of Bellaire, Ohio. The piece, identified by the partial labels as Pattern 461, is constructed of opaque glass with characteristic swirled patterns in deep purple, white, and indigo blue tones. The vessel features a square, footed body with vertical ribbing that tapers to a tiered, square pedestal base. The matching lid is decorated with molded scrolling foliate motifs and is surmounted by a spread-wing eagle finial. The underside retains two original partial paper labels: one indicates the maker name Imperial and the pattern number 461, and the other identifies the material as purple slag glass by Imperial Glass.
Condition report:
The glass is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or visible repairs. The two paper labels on the underside are worn, torn, and partial.
