Description
A mid-century countertop store display jar for Tom’s Toasted Peanuts. The jar features a cylindrical clear glass body with screen-printed blue graphics on the front. The graphics include the logo enjoy Tom’s in a stylized script, followed by an inverted triangle outline. Below the triangle, the text reads Toasted Peanut in a block font with enlarged lead characters, and the word Delicious in script at the base, preceded by a checkmark-shaped V. The jar is fitted with a circular, red-painted metal lid featuring a chrome-finished metal knob handle. This type of jar was a standard promotional fixture in American grocery and convenience stores during the 1940s through the 1960s.
Condition report:
The glass body is in good vintage condition with no visible cracks or large chips. There is minor surface scuffing and faint internal residue consistent with age and previous use. The red painted metal lid shows expected wear, including scattered small scratches and minor paint loss, primarily around the outer rim. The chrome-finished knob is intact and securely attached. The blue screen-printed graphics are largely well-preserved and legible, with only minor areas of thinning visible upon close inspection.
