Description
Planters Peanut Glass Football Countertop Display Jar. This vintage pressed glass countertop display jar was produced for the Planters Nut & Chocolate Company in the United States, dating to approximately the 1930s to 1940s. The jar features a rounded body with flattened front and back panels, a form commonly referred to as a football jar. The matching glass lid is topped with a figural finial in the shape of a textured peanut. The lower portion of the jar base features a stippled, textured finish. One side of the body is embossed with three horizontal lines of text reading PLANTERS PENNANT SALTED PEANUTS. The lid is embossed with the word PLANTERS encircling the peanut-shaped finial. The lower edge of the jar is embossed with MADE IN U.S.A. The transparent glass exhibits a subtle aqua tint and contains characteristic manufacturing artifacts including prominent mold seams and air bubbles.
Height: Approximately 9 to 10 inches.
Condition report:
Good vintage condition. Minor internal cloudiness and residue are present, consistent with age and previous use. No significant chips or cracks are visible in the glass. Typical manufacturing artifacts including air bubbles and mold seams are present. A small red mark of surface residue is visible on the side of the jar. The lid shows no major structural damage.
