Description
Manual tabletop butter churn manufactured by the Dazey Churn and Mfg. Co. of St. Louis, Missouri. The assembly features a square-profile cobalt blue glass jar fitted with a cast iron hand-crank gear mechanism and a screw-on metal lid. The glass jar is embossed with DAZEY CHURN MFG. CO. in a circular orientation around a central numeral 6. An adjacent side of the jar is embossed with the date FEB 14 22 above ST. LOUIS U.S.A. The top of the cast iron frame is also embossed with the DAZEY brand name. The mechanism includes a hand-turned crank with a wooden handle that rotates an internal metal paddle. This model is styled after the company’s patent date of February 14, 1922.
Condition report:
The cobalt blue glass jar is in good condition with no visible cracks or chips. The cast iron gear housing and metal lid show significant surface rust and oxidation. The wooden handle is weathered and exhibits a visible longitudinal split. The internal metal paddle and central shaft show dark surface oxidation. Mechanical movement has not been tested for smoothness.
