Description
This two-piece miniature covered dish is designed in the form of a hen on a nest, a style often utilized as a salt cellar or decorative trinket dish. The piece is constructed from pressed slag glass, featuring a marbled effect with translucent amber and opaque caramel-colored swirls. The lid is modeled as a nesting hen with molded textures for feathers and a distinct head. The base features a scalloped edge designed to resemble a woven nest. While similar in style to items produced by American glasshouses such as Boyd or Mosser, the color and form are strongly associated with those distributed by Rosso Glass. No maker marks are visible on the interior or exterior surfaces.
