5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 243:
Description
This two-piece covered glass dish, featuring a hen on a nest design, is attributed to the Indiana Glass Company. The object is composed of amberina glass, which displays a color gradient from a yellow-amber base to a vibrant red at the extremities. It is finished with a heavy marigold iridescent coating, characteristic of carnival glass, which creates multi-colored metallic highlights. The lid is molded in the shape of a nesting hen with distinct feather detailing on the body, wings, and tail. The base is an oval bowl with a vertically ribbed exterior and a wide, scalloped flange featuring a molded twisted-rope border. The interior bottom of the base is molded with a basketweave texture.
Condition report:
The item is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or surface abrasions were observed on either the lid or the base. The iridescent finish is bright and intact across the entire surface.
