5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 141:
Description
This vintage floor-standing hair perming machine, manufactured by Duart, features a heavy three-legged cast metal base and an adjustable vertical pole supporting a large circular head assembly. A metal nameplate on the base is marked with the stylized Duart brand name. The head assembly is finished in a black textured coating and contains a central hub from which numerous twisted dark-colored electrical cords descend. Each cord terminates in a metal hair clip, several of which are also stamped with the DUART mark. The side of the head assembly includes a control panel featuring a metal toggle switch mounted on a white circular plate with red printed text reading TEST CURL and OFF. The construction consists primarily of cast iron, steel, and electrical wiring components.
Condition report:
The machine shows significant signs of age and long-term storage. Surface rust is present across the metal base, vertical pole, and metallic components of the head. The electrical cords exhibit wear, fraying, and general deterioration to the outer coverings. There is oxidation on the metal clips. The overall structural integrity appears intact, though the mechanical and electrical working condition is unknown.
