Description
This lot consists of three handwoven wooden splint baskets produced by Longaberger Baskets of Dresden, Ohio, USA. The pieces belong to the Shades of Autumn series, featuring natural wood construction accented by horizontal stained bands in forest green and brownish-red tones. The collection includes a round basket with dual leather loop handles, an oval basket with a single wooden swing handle, and a smaller rectangular basket with fixed diagonal wooden handles. Each basket is fitted with a removable fabric liner in a coordinated autumn leaf and acorn print, along with a form-fitting clear plastic protector. The oval basket is further accented with a white ceramic tie-on tag labeled Maple Leaf with a colorful leaf illustration. The undersides of the baskets are stamped with the official maker mark LONGABERGER BASKETS HANDWOVEN DRESDEN, OHIO USA alongside handwritten artisan initials and dating codes, including the year 1995.
Condition report:
The collection is in good condition overall. The wooden splint construction is structurally sound with no visible breaks or significant splintering. The fabric liners and plastic protectors are intact with minimal signs of use. Leather and wooden handles are securely attached. Minor superficial scuffing is present on the underside surfaces from normal display and shelf storage.
