Description
This group features several vintage novelty salt and pepper shakers designed as miniature lanterns and lamps. Included are maritime-style lanterns constructed with black-painted metal cages, wire bale handles, and perforated metal screw caps. These shakers contain glass bodies in green and red, resembling traditional nautical navigational lights. Also included are hurricane lamp-style shakers made from red and off-white plastic, featuring translucent, yellowed chimneys and small molded handles on the bases. No maker’s marks or identifying stamps are visible on the items.
Condition report:
The collection shows wear consistent with age and use. The metal-caged lanterns exhibit significant paint loss and surface patina on the black-finished frames and wire handles. The plastic hurricane lamps show discoloration and surface residue. The glass and plastic components appear free of chips or cracks.
