Description
A collection of vintage souvenir and novelty salt and pepper shakers in various materials including ceramic, plastic, wood, and silver-toned metal. The assortment features a diverse range of regional themes and novelty forms. Included in the group are a pair of ceramic feet with red-painted toenails inscribed I WALKED MY FEET OFF IN KANSAS CITY, and a white plastic toaster-style set featuring yellow inserts, labeled ARIZONA THE GRAND CANYON STATE with ROADRUNNER and GRAND CANYON illustrations. Two blue-and-white glazed ceramic pitchers are decorated with windmill scenes and a poem titled I’M A LEFT HANDED SHAKER MADE SPECIALLY FOR YOU. Other sets include wooden barrels marked SEA WORLD, mallet-shaped shakers inscribed CEDAR POINT, and miniature silver-toned cowboy boots marked TOMBSTONE ARIZ. Several tapered shakers feature references to Kings Island, Fantasy Farm MIDDLE TOWN, OHIO, THE OZARKS, and MEXICO. The collection also contains figural sets shaped like pineapples and oranges, as well as stylized jar and vessel forms with floral and geometric motifs.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition overall. Most pieces exhibit minor surface wear, light soiling, and small areas of paint loss or rubbing to the decorative finishes consistent with age and use.
