Description
This lot comprises a Koehler No. 209 permissible flame safety lamp and a brass decorative lantern produced for the Orvis Company. The Koehler lamp features a cage embossed vertically with the name KOEHLER and a circular top plate stamped MSHA, NO. 209, and KOEHLER MFG. CO. MARLBORO MASS. U.S.A. The Orvis lantern is fitted with a riveted brass plaque depicting two crossed fishing rods and the text ORVIS COMPANY INC. ESTABLISHED 1856.
Condition report:
The Koehler lamp exhibits surface oxidation, dust, and light grime consistent with industrial use (Photo 1). The Orvis brass lantern displays significant surface tarnish and oxidation spots across the bonnet and base (Photo 4). The glass chimneys on both units appear intact and free of cracks (Photo 2).
