Description
A vintage advertising sign for the De Laval Cream Separator. The sign consists of an embossed metal plate mounted to a thick wooden backboard. The metal surface features embossed lettering with the text WE USE THE on the top line, DE LAVAL in a large stylized font in the center, and Cream Separator on the bottom line. The lettering was originally yellow against a dark black or navy background. The metal plate is secured to the wood with six large, flat-head nails. The wooden backboard shows remnants of red paint on the side edges and features a simple wire hanging mechanism on the reverse. Small text is present in the lower right corner of the metal plate but is not clearly legible due to surface wear.
Condition report:
The item is in heavily weathered and distressed condition. There is significant flaking and loss of the original yellow and black paint across the metal surface, revealing oxidized metal beneath. The metal plate shows prominent pitting, scratches, and surface rust. The wooden backboard has a large, full-length horizontal structural crack and shows significant weathering and age-related wear.
