Description
This vintage lidded vessel is composed of caramel slag glass, which presents a marbleized appearance with blended tones of chocolate brown, honey amber, and opaque creamy white. The jar is molded into the form of a traditional beehive, or skep, and features several three-dimensional bees in relief on both the body and the dome-shaped lid. The container is integrated with a square pedestal base that has chamfered corners and a recessed foot. The glass shows varying degrees of translucency and opacity throughout the piece. This form and glass type are characteristic of the Beehive pattern produced by the Imperial Glass Company. No maker’s marks are visible in the provided images.
Approximately 5.5 inches in height.
Condition report:
The item is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a noticeable ring of white mineral residue or surface scaling along the interior ledge where the lid sits, likely due to contact with moisture or contents during previous use.
