Description
This vintage two-piece covered glass dish was manufactured by the Imperial Glass Corporation of Bellaire, Ohio. The item is fashioned from amber slag glass, characterized by a translucent amber-brown base color with opaque white marbling and swirls throughout the lid and base. The lid is molded into the realistic shape of a rooster featuring a textured comb, wattle, and upright tail feathers. The base consists of a bowl with a flared, openwork lacy edge and sits on a circular pedestaled foot. The exterior of the bowl portion is decorated with vertical ribbing, while the interior floor of the base features a pebbled texture. The underside of the base displays an embossed maker mark featuring a stylized capital G with a vertical I centered within it.
Condition report:
The piece is in very good vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs were identified upon inspection. The delicate pierced decorative rim appears to be entirely intact.
