Description

This is a full-body wall-hanging taxidermy mount of a Lake Trout (Salvelinus namaycush), constructed as a fiberglass replica. The specimen is presented in a dynamic, slightly curved swimming pose with an open mouth. The paint scheme features characteristic Lake Trout markings, including light-colored spots over a dark greenish-gray body with vermiculations on the dorsal surface and fins. The lower fins show the white leading edges typical of the genus Salvelinus, and the tail is deeply forked. The reverse of the mount is flat and painted dark gray to sit flush against a wall, retaining a single metal mounting screw. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the piece.

Length: Approximately 30 – 35 inches.

Condition report:

The mount is in good displayable condition. There is a visible crack and separation at the seam of the gill plate on the presentation side. The reverse side shows various surface scuffs and minor abrasions consistent with use and age.
