Description
This lot features two fixed-blade knives, each with a corresponding leather sheath. The first is a military-style utility knife in the pattern of a WWII Mark 2, constructed with a single-edged clip point carbon steel blade featuring a fuller. The hilt is composed of a simple steel crossguard, a handle of stacked leather washers, and a faceted metal pommel. It is accompanied by a black leather sheath with a belt loop and a snap-closure strap. The second item is a Bowie-style knife featuring a large single-edged clip point blade. It is designed with an S-shaped brass crossguard, a shaped hardwood handle with finger grooves secured by a single brass pin, and a flared brass pommel. Its black leather sheath features decorative whip-stitched edges and a faded white emblem on the face. No maker’s marks or tang stamps are visible on either knife.
Approximate blade lengths: 7 inches; 6 inches.
Condition report:
The military-style knife is in fair to poor condition, showing significant surface corrosion, verdigris, and loss of original finish on the blade. The leather handle and sheath show moderate wear. The Bowie-style knife is in fair condition with areas of surface rust and pitting on the blade near the guard. The brass components show heavy tarnishing. The leather sheath shows moderate wear and loss to the white emblem graphic.
