Description
A collection of three mid-20th-century children’s activity and coloring books featuring stylized lithographic illustrations. The group includes a spiral-bound book titled SANTA’S CIRCUS with a yellow cover depicting Santa Claus and various circus animals. This volume includes an interior page titled BIG TOP FUN SHOW. Also present is a Bible Stories to Color book published by Whitman, bearing the identification number 1159:15. The cover features Noah’s Ark surrounded by animal pairs including elephants, lions, and bears. The third item is a die-cut Palette Paint Book published by Saalfield, numbered 1345 with an original 15c price mark. The book is shaped like an artist’s palette and depicts colorful paint splotches and brushes. These items exemplify mid-century American children’s ephemera.
Condition report:
The books exhibit wear consistent with their age and intended use. Visible condition issues include edge wear, bumped corners, and some surface abrasions, most notably on the front cover of the die-cut palette book. Minor paper toning is present.
