Description
A vintage two-piece pressed glass lidded dish in the popular Hen on Nest pattern, manufactured by the Imperial Glass Company. This small-scale version is traditionally used as a salt cellar or trinket dish. The piece is constructed from translucent aqua blue glass. The lid is molded in the form of a stylized hen with a stippled texture intended to simulate feathers. The base features a matching stippled texture representing a nest and is finished with a scalloped upper rim. A raised embossed mark consisting of a capital letter I superimposed over a capital letter G is visible on the exterior of the hen lid’s left wing, which identifies the manufacturer as the Imperial Glass Company of Bellaire, Ohio. This specific trademark was utilized by the company from approximately 1951 through 1977.
Condition report:
The item is in excellent overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The glass retains its original luster and clarity. The scalloped edges of the base and the protruding elements of the hen lid, including the beak and tail, remain intact.
