5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 443:
Description
This porcelain ginger jar is attributed to Kudo Toki based on visual consistency with known examples from the manufacturer. The vessel features an ovoid form with a fitted domed lid topped by a pointed gilt finial, resting on a flared circular foot. The piece is finished with an all-over iridescent luster glaze that creates a pearlescent effect. Decoration includes horizontal gilt bands at the rim, shoulder, body, and foot. A decorative band of black and gold foliate scrollwork is present on both the lid and the shoulder of the jar. The body is further ornamented with scattered transfer-printed floral and butterfly motifs in black and gold. No maker’s marks, backstamps, or country of origin marks are visible on the exterior surfaces shown; the underside of the base is not visible in the provided images.
Condition report:
The item appears to be in good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or visible repairs. There is minor surface wear to the gilding and luster glaze consistent with age and light decorative use.
