5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 44:
Description
This collection consists of multiple vintage household textiles and table linens dating from the mid-20th century. The lot features several printed cotton textiles, including a large tablecloth with a vibrant blue field and a repeating pattern of white and pink flowering branch motifs. A novelty kitchen textile features a folk art style print depicting houses, chickens, picket fences, and floral designs in a red, blue, yellow, and green color palette. Another printed panel shows a figurative motif of a girl in a green bonnet with purple and pink floral accents, characteristic of Dutch girl designs from the period. The lot also includes a variety of crocheted items, such as a large circular doily with a green open-work border and pink floral details, and a small cream handkerchief with a pink scalloped crocheted edge. Additional items include cream and white lace fragments, doilies, and a textile with yellow stripes. The pieces are constructed from cotton and linen with a mix of machine-printed patterns and hand-crocheted lace.
Condition report:
The items are in vintage, used condition and show signs of age and wear. Visible brownish age spots and scattered staining are present on several pieces, particularly on the white sections of the blue floral print and the pink-edged handkerchief. General yellowing is noted across the collection. The crocheted items and lace show minor fraying to the edges and some loose threads. No maker marks or labels were identified on the textiles.
