Description
This vintage Dietz D-Lite cold blast kerosene lantern features a tubular metal frame and a clear glass globe. The top chimney cap and font base are embossed with Dietz, D-Lite, and N.Y. U.S.A. The lantern is constructed with a wire bail handle and a screw-top filler cap on the font. The clear glass globe is embossed with markings including Dietz, D-Lite, N.Y. U.S.A., LOC-NOB, and a patent date of 12-4-23. The design utilizes cold blast technology with side tubes to provide fresh air to the burner. A wire cage assembly surrounds the globe for protection.
Condition report:
The lantern shows significant signs of age and exposure consistent with outdoor use. There is heavy surface rust, oxidation, and pitting throughout the metal frame, chimney, and base. The glass globe remains intact with no visible cracks or large chips, though it shows some internal residue. The filler cap and wire bail are present. The mechanical globe lift and wick adjuster are present but have not been tested for functionality.
