Description
This collection consists of five vintage metal cowbells of various styles and finishes. The central item is a gold-tone commemorative bell featuring a large blue, white, and red sticker on the front face. The sticker is labeled THE 1984 HOLY COW BELL and features a graphic of a baseball emerging from a megaphone over an illustration of a baseball stadium. The text © 1984 Ronan & Klein is printed along the bottom edge. This piece is a promotional item associated with the Chicago Cubs and the signature catchphrase of broadcaster Harry Caray. The second bell is a cast metal bell with a tiered beehive shape and a black-coated flat metal handle, decorated with embossed rosettes and a small cross motif. The remaining three items are rectangular folded metal cowbells. Two of these bells feature a copper-wash finish, while one shows a dark, weathered steel surface.
Condition report:
The items are in vintage, used condition with wear consistent with age. The three rustic bells exhibit oxidation, surface rust, and some pitting. The commemorative bell shows minor surface scuffing. The Holy Cow sticker is largely intact with vibrant color, though it shows minor wear and slight lifting at the corners. Minor denting is visible on the bodies of the folded metal bells. All handles remain securely attached.
