5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 401:
Description
This lot comprises a varied collection of metalware, including four bells and a dinner triangle, showcasing nautical and rustic decorative themes. The grouping contains a wall-mounted signal bell with a cast iron body and a wrought iron strap bracket, mounted to a weathered, unfinished wooden block with a simple rope pull. A nautical-themed bell features a brass body and a black-painted cast iron bracket designed in the shape of a ship’s wheel; faint, illegible marks are present on the interior rim. A decorative wall-mounted bell is made of glazed white ceramic, possibly porcelain or stoneware, and is supported by a black-painted metal bracket with scrollwork detailing and a cord pull. The iron dinner triangle is constructed from a bent metal rod and is accompanied by a rustic striker fashioned from a natural wood branch handle with an attached metal rod.
Condition report:
The collection is in varied as-found condition. The cast iron and iron items, particularly the wood-mounted bell and the dinner triangle, show significant surface oxidation, rust, and accumulated dust. The wooden mounting board is unfinished with natural weathering. The brass bell exhibits a mellowed patina and minor tarnish, while the black finish on its bracket shows light surface wear. The ceramic bell is in good overall condition with no visible chips or cracks.
