5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 395:
Description
This vintage Dietz kerosene lantern features a tubular steel frame and is fitted with a clear glass globe. The globe is embossed with DIETZ within an oval, N.Y. U.S.A. underneath, and additional markings including LOC-NOB and REGD IN U.S.A. The lantern retains its primary components including a wire bail handle, side globe-lift lever, and a threaded fuel filler cap on the base. The design utilizes dual air tubes characteristic of early 20th-century tubular lanterns. The entire metal surface exhibits a heavy rusted patina from age and use.
Condition report:
The lantern shows significant overall surface oxidation and heavy corrosion across all metal components. The glass globe appears to be in stable condition with no visible cracks or major chips. The mechanical lift lever and bail handle are present but show advanced rusting.
