Description
This item is a miniature cast iron anvil bearing the branding of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The piece is modeled after a standard blacksmith anvil, featuring a tapered horn and a flat top face. Both sides of the body include the name WINCHESTER in raised letters within a rectangular cartouche, with the year 1920 in raised numerals positioned directly below. These markings are present on both sides, though they are more clearly defined on one side than the other. The anvil is constructed of cast iron and is finished with a black coating. These miniatures were historically produced as promotional desk accessories, salesman samples, or paperweights, specifically during the period when the Winchester Repeating Arms Company expanded its product offerings to include a wide range of hardware and hand tools.
Condition report:
The anvil is in good vintage condition. It retains a consistent black painted finish across all surfaces. Visible texture and minor pitting are present beneath the paint, which are characteristic results of the original iron casting process. General surface wear is present, consistent with the age and historical use of the object.
