An antique American primitive wooden dash butter churn, likely dating from the 19th to early 20th century. This utilitarian object features a tapered barrel construction made of vertical wooden staves. The staves are secured by four hand-fitted bentwood hoops encircling the body at intervals. The churn includes a circular wooden lid with a central hole designed to accommodate the tall, central wooden dasher handle.
