Description
A collection of vintage folding rules constructed from boxwood with brass hinges and end tips. The assembly includes various models featuring different measurement scales. One rule displays markings for Warranted Boxwood, Rabone, Made in England, and No 1167, identifying it as a Rabone No. 1167 rule. Another rule bears the marks Lufkin, No 781, and Warranted Boxwood, identifying it as a Lufkin No. 781 rule. The items feature articulated hinges and brass reinforcement at the joints and ends. One rule is marked 2FT. The wood surfaces exhibit a naturally darkened patina from age.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of historical use and age. Visible conditions include surface wear, darkening of the boxwood, and oxidation on the brass components. One rule exhibits a small chip near a hinge. The folding mechanisms show varying degrees of stiffness consistent with age.
