Description
This collection centers on a vintage X-acto No. 86 Hobby Chest, identified by the yellow and black label on the interior lid of the wooden case. The chest contains an assortment of tools including interchangeable steel blades, handles, a small metal block plane, and carving gouges. Included with the lot is a group of vintage orange cardboard boxes containing plug cutters, identified by their labels as No. 815 (1/2 inch), No. 817 (3/4 inch), and No. 819 (1 inch), each marked Made in the United States of America. The group is further comprised of a folding knife featuring a curved blade and dark handle scales, along with a dark, floral-embossed storage pouch featuring a decorative metal latch and cloth insert.
Condition report:
The items show evidence of age and use. Metal tool components exhibit surface oxidation and patina throughout. The wooden chest has various scuffs and scratches to the finish. The cardboard packaging shows edge wear, creasing, and minor tearing. The embossed pouch and its interior lining display wear and discoloration consistent with handling.
