Description
An assortment of antique and vintage cast iron pressing tools including a Dover No. 52 sad iron base. The lot features a large tailor’s press iron with a rectangular base and a turned wooden handle. Also included is a small miniature or sleeve iron with a black-painted finish and a decorative fabric bow tied to the handle. A standard sad iron with a twisted metal handle is accompanied by a coordinating cast iron trivet featuring a geometric spoke pattern. One component is a detachable sad iron base embossed with Dover No 52 USA Sad Iron on the top surface. The tools are made of solid cast iron.
Condition report:
The items are in aged, antique condition. The cast iron surfaces show varying degrees of oxidation, surface rust, and deep pitting throughout. The tailor\'s press iron has wear, staining, and finish loss to the wooden handle. The small black iron exhibits significant paint loss. The twisted handle iron and its trivet are heavily rusted with extensive pitting. The Dover iron base is incomplete, lacking the original detachable handle mechanism.
