Description
This is a two-piece figural covered dish crafted from colorless glass with an acid-etched frosted satin finish. The lid is molded in the form of a nesting hen, featuring detailed feathering and an upright, fan-shaped tail. The base is designed with a basket-weave pattern and a decorative scalloped rim. This form and finish are characteristic of mid-20th-century American pressed glass manufacturers, such as Westmoreland or Fenton. No manufacturer marks, logos, or signatures are visible on either the lid or the base.
Condition report:
The lid is in good condition with no visible chips or cracks. The base shows a significant visible crack or fracture on the underside, located near the inner foot rim as shown in the detail images. The frosted finish exhibits light surface scuffing consistent with age and shelf wear.
