5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 256:
Description
This two-piece pressed glass covered dish is fashioned in the popular Hen on Nest pattern, composed of translucent cobalt blue glass. The lid is shaped as a hen with detailed molded feathering across the body and a crested head. The base represents a nest, featuring a basketweave texture on the exterior and a scalloped rim. Due to its size, this item is categorized as a miniature, a form frequently used as an individual salt cellar or a small trinket box. No manufacturer marks or signatures are present.
Length: approximately 2.5 inches.
Condition report:
The piece is in good condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations noted. Tiny internal air bubbles, or seeds, are present within the glass, which is typical for pressed glass production of this type.
