Description
A two-piece covered pressed glass dish in the classic hen on nest form. The piece is crafted from translucent green glass with a multi-colored iridescent surface finish, often referred to as carnival glass. The lid is molded in the shape of a nesting hen with detailed feathering on the body and wings, a fanned tail, and a distinct comb and beak. The base features an exterior basketweave pattern and a scalloped rim with a rope-like texture. The interior floor of the base displays a molded rectangular ribbed pattern. No maker marks or signatures were identified on the interior of the lid or the base. A small rectangular paper label is present on the interior floor of the base, but it contains no visible text or identifying information. While similar examples are produced by American manufacturers such as Indiana Glass and Westmoreland Glass, the absence of a visible mark precludes a definitive attribution.
Condition report:
The item appears to be in excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or surface abrasions were observed on the lid or the base. The iridescent finish is well-preserved with no significant areas of wear or loss. The rims of both pieces appear smooth and intact.
