Description

This two-piece pressed glass covered dish, commonly referred to as a Hen on a Nest, features a marigold iridescent finish over an amber glass body, characteristic of carnival glass. The lid is modeled in the form of a nesting hen with detailed molded feathers on the body and wings, a prominent comb, and a beak. The oval base displays a basketweave molded texture on the exterior and is finished with a distinctive beaded rim. While no manufacturer marks are present on the lid or base, the specific combination of the basketweave pattern and beaded rim is highly characteristic of the number 2960 pattern produced by the Indiana Glass Company during the mid-20th century.

Condition report:

The item is in good vintage condition. The iridescent finish remains vibrant across both pieces with notable flashes of gold, copper, and reddish-purple. No chips, cracks, or significant surface wear were observed during visual inspection. The lid sits correctly and securely on the base.
