5.28.26 MAY ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 211:
Description
A hand-blown decorative satin glass vase by Fenton Art Glass, produced for the 2001 Honor Collection. This vessel features a characteristic wide, double-crimped jack-in-the-pulpit style rim. The glass is crafted in the Rosalene style, often referred to as Blue Burmese in this collection, featuring a heat-sensitive color gradient that transitions from a deep rose-pink at the ruffled rim to a creamy off-white body. The exterior is hand-painted with the Purple Passion Flowers motif, consisting of blue and purple composite blossoms with white-tipped centers, green stems, foliage, and a small winged insect. Under ultraviolet light, the pink portions of the glass exhibit a distinct purple-blue fluorescence.
The vase is marked with an oval silver foil label on the shoulder reading FENTON Handpainted in USA. The body is hand-signed A. Turner by the artist Alice Turner. The base is printed in green with the Fenton script f in a circle and the Honor Collection leaf logo. A green oval sticker on the underside identifies this as a limited edition piece, numbered 721 of 2500.
