Description
A set of four vintage molded plastic character bubble bath bottles, commonly referred to as Soaky bottles, attributed to Colgate-Palmolive. The collection includes characters from various animation franchises: Thumper from Disney’s Bambi, Sylvester the Cat from Warner Bros. Looney Tunes, Dino from Hanna-Barbera’s The Flintstones, and Alvin from Alvin and the Chipmunks. Each figure is constructed from molded plastic with a hollow body and a removable screw-off head that functions as a bottle cap. Thumper is rendered in light blue plastic with the name embossed at the base. Sylvester is depicted in black and white with a red nose and the name embossed at the base. Dino is purple with black spots and has the name embossed within an oval on the chest. Alvin is featured in a yellow body with a red sweater featuring a large embossed letter A; on the reverse, the character is depicted holding a flute or recorder. The reverse of each bottle contains embossed text providing directions for use as bubble bath and a safety caution for use as a toy once the container is empty.
Condition report:
The items are in used vintage condition with visible signs of play wear and age. There is significant paint loss and scuffing present on all four figures, most notably on Thumper’s cream-colored chest, Sylvester’s white chest and hands, Dino’s snout and face, and the red paint of Alvin’s sweater and cap. All bottles are empty. The screw-off head mechanisms are intact and functional.
