Description
An antique Music Master Radio Reproducer horn speaker, typically produced in the early 1920s. The unit features a flared wooden bell constructed from multiple joined staves or segments. This bell is mounted onto a curved, cast-metal gooseneck finished in a black textured coating. The gooseneck is supported by a weighted, fluted circular base with a matching black finish. A gold-toned decal located on the interior of the bell includes the stylized text Music Master followed by RADIO REPRODUCER, ONE OF THE GERACO PRODUCTS, and mentions U.S. PAT. OFFICE 1908 with OTHER PATENTS PENDING. The base includes a small circular port, likely for the original wiring.
Condition report:
The speaker shows significant signs of age and structural wear. There are multiple prominent separations and vertical cracks along the glued seams of the wooden staves within the bell. The interior decal is intact but exhibits fading, staining, and surface loss. The cast-metal components show general surface wear, minor oxidation, and dust accumulation consistent with age and long-term storage.
