Description
This hand-pieced quilt features the traditional Double Wedding Ring pattern, constructed from multicolored cotton scrap fabrics including solids, florals, and calicos. The rings are set against a white cotton ground with light purple fabric used at the intersection points. The design is bordered by a wide yellow inner band and a purple outer border. The textile is tied with white thread visible on both sides, a technique often used for heavier comforters. The backing consists of two panels of solid purple fleece or flannel material with a central vertical seam.
Dimensions: Approximately queen or king size.
Condition report:
The item is in fair to good condition. Visible defects include a dark stain on the right side of the yellow border and a small separation or tear at the top left junction of the central field and border. General surface wrinkling and light soil consistent with use are present throughout. The fleece backing suggests a later finishing or modification to the original quilt top.
