Description

This is an antique pedestal kerosene oil lamp crafted from vibrant green pressed uranium glass. The design features a rounded font decorated with a molded Greek Key or meander band encircling the shoulder. The lamp is supported by a faceted pedestal stem that leads to a stepped octagonal base. The metal burner assembly remains in place, and the wick riser knob is embossed with the text BANNER, identifying it as a product of the Plume and Atwood Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, Connecticut. Under ultraviolet light, the glass exhibits a strong neon-green fluorescence, confirming its composition as uranium glass. The lamp is in its original, non-electrified condition and retains the burner with chimney prongs, though it is currently missing the glass chimney and shade.

Condition report:

The glass components are in excellent condition, showing no visible chips, cracks, or significant abrasions. The metal burner assembly displays a dark, aged patina with minor surface oxidation consistent with age and use. The mechanical wick riser is present and appears intact, though its functionality has not been tested.
