6.25.26 JUNE ANTIQUE & GLASS AUCTION
Lot 389:
Description
This spherical art glass paperweight is crafted from clear glass with a slightly flattened base. The interior contains hand-worked lampwork decorative elements, specifically two dark brown or black birds depicted in flight with metallic gold-toned accents on their wings. Below the birds is a stylized forest green glass plant formation. A single, large controlled air bubble is suspended near the center of the composition. The piece is created using the encasement technique, where the interior figures were likely shaped separately before being captured within the molten clear glass body. No signatures, maker marks, or labels are visible on the object. Small internal air bubbles, known as seeds, are present within the clear glass, which is a common characteristic of hand-blown glass.
Condition report:
The paperweight is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or significant surface scratches. Minor scuffs consistent with shelf wear are present on the base.
