Description
This cast iron skillet is a No. 9 model manufactured by the Griswold Manufacturing Company of Erie, Pennsylvania. The skillet features a standard circular form with two pour spouts and a handle containing a teardrop-shaped hang hole. The base is embossed with the Griswold small block logo, characterized by a cross inside a double circle with the manufacturer name GRISWOLD centered within the cross. Additional markings on the base include NO. 9 positioned to the left of the logo and ERIE PA. positioned to the right. The pattern number 710 and the letter L are embossed near the handle attachment point. A handwritten tag attached to the handle identifies the production period as circa 1939 to 1957, which corresponds to the use of the small block logo trademark.
Condition report:
The skillet displays a dark seasoned finish with typical signs of previous use. The interior cooking surface shows visible scuffing and wear. Minor surface oxidation is present along the bottom exterior edges. The casting remains structurally sound with no visible cracks or repairs.
