Description
This agricultural implement seat was manufactured by Barlow, a company known for producing corn planters and other farm machinery during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The seat is constructed of cast iron and features a perforated pan design intended for use on a tractor or horse-drawn implement. It is characterized by seventeen vertical, oblong cooling slots along the upper perimeter and two stylized, scroll-shaped cutouts flanking the lower portion. The central field of the seat displays the manufacturer name BARLOW in prominent cutout lettering arranged in an upward-curving arc. A single circular mounting hole is located on the integral mounting tab at the base of the unit.
Approximate Width: 15 – 18 inches.
Condition report:
The front surface of the seat has been refurbished with blue paint and white accents on the lettering. There are scattered paint chips and areas of light surface rust visible on the front, particularly along the outer edges and inside the letter cutouts. The reverse side is unpainted and exhibits heavy, uniform surface oxidation and rust. No structural cracks, welds, or repairs are visible.
